Katty Perry has shared an animated music video for Resilient, just a few days after giving birth to her first child Daisy Dove Bloom with Orlando Bloom. It is the latest visual from her album Smile, which was released last Friday.
The short animated clip was directed by Aya Tanimura follows the life cycle of a tree growing on a city block from its start as a single seed in a bird’s droppings to a fully-grown plant. The video further shows that as the tree grows up, a whole cast of characters pass by the tree on its journey, including a struggling musician modeled after Katy, a local business owner, a pair of ants, a butterfly, and a striped cat.
The video has a reference from the infamous “plastic bag” line from Katy’s 2010 superhit single Firework. In her previously released the non-album ballad “Never Worn White” she revealed that she was expecting her first child with fiancé Orlando.
Katy, also serves as the Goodwill Ambassadors for UNICEF , gave the birth to her first child, a baby girl and named her Daisy Dove Bloom.
The couple also released a statement which said, “We are floating with love and wonder from the safe and healthy arrival of our daughter. “But we know we’re the lucky ones and not everyone can have a birthing experience as peaceful as ours was. Communities around the world are still experiencing a shortage of healthcare workers and every eleven seconds a pregnant woman or newborn dies, mostly from preventable causes. Since COVID-19, many more newborn lives are at risk because of a greater lack of, access to water, soap, vaccines and medicines that prevent diseases. As parents to a newborn, this breaks our hearts, as we empathize with struggling parents now more than ever.”
