Former Disney princess, sitcom star Brandy has released a new album titled B7 after taking a eight years break. Her 15 song album starred Daniel Caesar , her daughter Sy’ Rai and Chance The Rapper.
Netflix has also announced that they will add her Perfect 90s sitcom Moesha to its streaming platform on August 1st.
The 15- songs album is co-written and co-produced by Brandy herself. She said she has found freedom with the record’s release as she was fighting a five-year legal battle with her former label, Chameleon Entertainment.
She said,“I put everything I could into this project. It was so freeing for me, because I did get a chance to really dig in and write from my heart of heart. “I was able to really get a lot of things off of my chest, really use music as a way to escape and heal.”
She had reached a settlement with Chameleon Entertainment in 2017 yet she took time to release B7 to ensure her best work as yet.
“I’m glad that I didn’t rush it because when you’ve been absent from music for so long you want to make sure that it’s your best work,” Brandy said. “For me, I approached this album like this is my last project. What would I want it to sound like? How would I want to express myself?”
She even focused on her acting career with her debut as Roxie Hart in “Chicago” after her sixth album release “Two Eleven” in 2012. She also starred in the BET sitcom ‘Zoe Ever After’. The latest album was accompanied by a music video for Borderline’ which is on mental health, and gave the message, “You are not alone.”
